Binding instructions

What is the most popular method of binding with the Baby Wrap?

The most popular way of tying is the wrap-around cross-carry. This is due to the fact that it is quickly learned and can be quickly tied. Come with the wrap cross stretcher the beautiful KOKADI motifs to best advantage! That is why we always use it for our pictures. The wrap cross stretcher is the tying method for everyone! How difficult is binding?

Don't be afraid. Tying, like many things in life, simply needs to be practiced. The best way to do this is to watch our videos in front of the mirror. With time, you will develop a feeling for tight and symmetrical tying. Eventually you'll become a real pro and it won't take you long at all! You'll really enjoy trying out new ways of tying.

How long will it take me to learn how to tie?

That depends on you! If you are diligent and practice often, you will learn in no time!

Which Baby Wraps are particularly easy to tie?

For beginners we recommend to use a Baby Wrap with a lower basis weight. Thinner fabric is easier to tighten and does not require so much effort. Also suitable for the beginning is a Baby Wrap with a color gradient, such as Marie in Wonderland. The color gradient will make it easier for you to distinguish between the individual layers of fabric. You will see better if you have sorted your cloth correctly or if a small mistake has been made.

What effect does the fabric have on the binding?

Thin fabrics are known to be easier to put on and require less force. Solid fabrics many find more comfortable for their heavy children. With them, you need a little more force to tighten. Of course, all of our Baby Wraps are suitable for safe and comfortable tying!

For whom is tying particularly suitable?

Sling tying is generally recommended for more experienced babywearing parents or for parents who want to learn to be engaged. In general, anyone can learn to tie if you take the time to make it comfortable and learn for yourself and your baby. Practice makes perfect!

What do I need to consider when tying my sling?

In general, it is important to keep the following points in mind:

  • Make sure your child always sits in the tuck-and-spread position. This means: the back is round and the knees are above his belly button.
  • Your child should always sit at head-kiss height. That is, so high that you can simply give him a kiss on the head.
  • The Baby Wrap must always be tied tightly. After tying, lean forward slightly. Your child should not be able to detach from your body now.

Other tying methods for your KOKADI Baby Wrap:

The simple backpack

With this tying method, you can carry your baby on your back, just like with a baby carrier. In the beginning, it is best to practice this in front of a mirror or with another person present. You will see: It's actually quite easy once you get the hang of it.

The Double Hammock

The Double Hammock is also a tying method that allows you to carry your child on your back. Again, practice first in front of a mirror or in the presence of another person. Once you get the hang of it, you can always master it on your own!

The kangaroo

The kangaroo is a tying method to carry your baby in front of your belly, just like the wrap-around cross carrier. Here you first form a pouch - as with a kangaroo. The fabric is tipped over the shoulders and then fanned out for ideal weight distribution.

The hip sling

With this tying method you can make yourself out of your Baby Wrap quasi a RingSling tie. The super practical: The hip sling can be super pre-tied and therefore does not have to be re-threaded every time.

The RingSling

The KOKADI RingSling is a short Baby Wrap, which is threaded through two rings and then tightened. It is perfect for on the go, because it is super easy and fast to put on and fits in just about any handbag!
